Self-Help Skills
- Learn student number & teacher name
- Unpack backpack and put belongings in proper place
- Use the bathroom independently
- Open lunchbox and lunch containers
- Practice healthy hygiene
- Dress self (zippers, buttons, etc.)
Fine Motor Skills
- Hold a pencil
- Write first name
- Use scissors to cut basic shapes
- Trace lines and shapes
- Color or draw simple shapes
- Opening/closing glue
- Follow 2-step directions
- Practice self control- taking turns and keeping hands to self
- Communicate feelings and express needs verbally
- Take turns while playing games
- Clean up toys and belongings

Academic Skills
- Follow direction from adults
- Sit quietly and listen to a story
- Identify some letters of the alphabet and those in your name

- Talk to your child about everything. Conversation is the beginning of learning to read.
- Read, read, read! Read to and with your child every day.
- Play games together - Charades, Go Fish, I Spy, board games, rhyming games
- Eat dinner together DEVICE FREE. Talk about your day, best part, hardest part, etc.
- Spend time together as a family - build something, do a craft, ride bikes, have a picnic.
- Make time for writing, drawing, and creative play.
- Keep a consistent routine. Healthy routines and home help establish healthy habits at school.
- Go outside and play!
